A little off topic, but I though it is was worth sharing ;)
I have recently upgraded my (old) MacBook Pro Disk where I cut all our screencasts, test software to a new SSD (Samsung 128GB) . Yes I had to reorganise /downsize my files a little get rid of some old clutter and archive stuff across to my external storage. Having done that after having a shade less than 150GB on the stock 200GB drive I have trimmed that down to 65GB including my iTunes folder too and very extensive RapidWeaver Application Support folder 900MB :)
You can really tell something was really off in disk response , and this is the original disk that came with the MacBook (Fujitsu 200GB) and nothing else is changed in the original configuration.
Okay I guess a little unscientific but XBench is all I had around at the time. Here we go ……

What does than mean in login times , startup. (As startup items I have Dropbox, DefaultFolder X and some other nice utilities stuck away in the toolbar)
Before-Upgrade
Startup from the Boing ‘chime whatever ’ to login Screen 46 seconds
Login to Desktop: 1min 50seconds
After-Upgrade
Startup to login Screen 21 seconds
Login to Desktop: 8 seconds yes everything was ready -Wow
Needless to say opening apps does feel a lot more responsive, just wish I had done this sooner :)
